Feedblitz vs. Feedburner

Feedblitz and Feedburner are two services that provide e-mail and RSS reader subscriptions to feeds generated by various blogs and websites. Both services are free; however, Feedburner is run by Google, and Feedblitz is ad-supported. Feedblitz does add a small advertisement on the end of your feed, but this by no means makes it second to Feedburner.

Feedblitz is exclusively dedicated to providing RSS feeds via e-mail. Let’s take a look at 10 reasons why Feedblitz is a superior service to Feedburner:

1. Feedblitz provides a linked list of at the beginning of each feed outlining the articles included for easy reference. Readers may not necessarily be interested in every article included in every feed.
2. Feedblitz features a search option embedded in the feed which brings the reader to the blog or website.

3. At the end of each Feedblitz e-mail is a short list of links to recent posts. Like the list at the beginning, the length is customizable. It’s almost like the reader is on your blog.
4. Feedblitz has a wide array of subscription options including Yahoo! Instant Messenger, Skype, Twitter, and more. You won’t find these convenient options anywhere else, and it’s the perfect choice if your inbox is already inundated.
5. Feedblitz boasts an in-feed rating system that allows readers to assign a number of stars when they enjoy a particular article. This helps generate interest in your user-rated “best” articles.
6. Having multiple domains and sub-domains that point to your main site is an excellent way to market your site and get a good lead on backlinks. Feedblitz offers a service for $9.99 per year where users can subscribe to your feed on it’s own sub-domain in the following format: yoursitename.feedblitz.com
7. Feedblitz has some awesome tracking features that provide a detailed report of user stats.
8. Send your subscribers a newsflash using Feedblitz’s Newsflash Service. This allows the publisher to send updates to readers without publishing them to the site or blog.
9. Feedblitz allows the publisher to set up an auto-responder that can send an e-mail or group of e-mails to new subscribers automatically.
10. With Feedblitz, the publisher can see who is subscribing to the feed. He/she can also customize which subscribers receive certain e-mails.

Feedblitz is loaded with features and it’s e-mail subscription service is second to none. You’ll wish every blog used it. The beauty of it is that you don’t have to miss out on your RSS Reader customers. You can use Feedburner and Feedblitz hand in hand. Feedburner even provides an option to collaborate with Feedblitz in the e-mail delivery section of your Dashboard. You get the best or both sides. In addition, your subscriber stats with Feedblitz will show up on your Feedburner widget. These are two fantastic services that make one awesome team should you decide to use them together. However, if you don’t, I’d have to recommend Feedblitz as the winner.
